Speedy replies crucial for business

Nine out of ten consumers say they are more brand-loyal and are likely to spend more with businesses who respond to emails in a speedy manner. Meanwhile, a similar proportion say they have chosen one company over another as a result of poor email response time.

Mark Jeffries, of Fasthosts internet, warned that most firms "remain misinformed about the kind of effects that poor email practices can have on their business”.

Internet-enabled firms twice as confident about growth

Small firms that exist purely in the world of bricks and mortar are much less confident about growth than those that make use of the world wide web to do business, according to new research.

On average, web-savvy firms expect their business to grow by 41% in the next year compared to 20% amongst firms not making use of the internet.

The statistics suggest that firms not making use of technology may be missing a trick. Sixteen percent of office supply companies said that the internet held no potential for their business, yet some firms in the same industry reported that they made 20% of their sales in this way.
